China is a spectacular country composed of highly different landscapes: with plateaus and mountains in the west, and lower lands in the east. The Great Wall of China is one of the world's most impressive historical sites. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. The Chinese people are proud of their heritage and are eager to share what China has to offer.

They are also politely curious about those who come to visit from far away places, and are always willing to share a smile and call you a friend. In order to maximise the opportunities for interaction and learning about the local history and culture, a team of local translators support us in China.

Our China trek offers a truly unique experience. Aside from the spectacular scenery of the Great Wall and the surrounding countryside, one of the most rewarding aspects of this trek is the rare opportunity to trek and camp in a remote part of rural China and to experience local life in its most unspoilt state. The Great Wall attracts over a million visitors each year, however, the vast majority of tourists visit just a small section of the wall near Beijing. We have planned a route that will take us beyond the regular tourist trail and onto sections of the wall that have been seen by only a handful of westerners over the last hundred years.

This event also provides the opportunity for individuals to raise money for the charity of their choice, as well as small charities to raise funds and awareness. So if you are an individual or group who want to take part in a challenge of a lifetime, whilst raising funds for the charity of your own choice? Then this event is perfect for you! One great benefit of these events is that you only need to enter one person, however if you book / or are a group of 15 you will get the 16th place completely free.

In China our charity expeditions have contributed a great deal to the local community and have had a positive impact on the conservation of the fragile eco-system. The benefits of your charity walk or challenge are far more wide reaching than you can ever imagine

Itinerary

Day 1- Fly to Beijing.

Day 2 - Transfer from Beijing by coach to Gubeikou. At the hotel we will have a full briefing from the expedition leader.

Day 3 - For our first day trekking we walk on a section of the wall that hasn't been restored. We then take a path down to a reservoir, walking past rural villages to reach our campsite in a valley.

Day 4 - Today is a strenuous but rewarding day. We walk along some restored sections of the wall, but with plenty of ups and downs, until we reach the Simatai section. We then take a path off the wall and walk to our camp.

Day 5 -We leave our campsite and walk over the suspension bridge, up to the 12th tower for lunch. We then follow a path off the wall to the village of Gangfang.

Day 6 -Today we make our way along a track scattered with stones and the remains of the ancient wall. A descent into the valley leads us to our hotel nestling on the edge of a reservoir.

Day 7 - Our last day of trekking takes us through forests, with occasional views of the towers on the wall. A final descent brings us to our finish line.

Day 8 - Free day in Beijing.

Day 9 - Beijing to UK.

The treks are of moderate difficulty level involving 5-7 hours of activity (10-20km) per day. Accommodation involves hotel stays and camping.
