This is a residential program and the price indicated includes shared accommodation and home made Mediterranean food! The course is run in English and participants must be 18 years old. This workshop fills up quickly so register as soon as possible!

Inspired from our work with Jacques Lecoq, this 'essential' training gives a comprehensive experience and understanding of the art of acting. A 'must do' workshop for anyone who wants to seriously deepen their knowledge of dramatic and comic art.

We will be working with carefully developed progressive exercises and techniques that release the creative power of the actor, including:

Re play of daily life - by observing the world around, the actor has to convey authentic daily life situations and incident (without exaggeration or distortion). This work with space, timing and action is a vital building block for later performance and creation.

Neutral Mask (essential dramatic presence) - this mask allows the actor to simplify and modify their own physical habits and idiosyncrasies through a series of special improvisational exercises. The actor learns to unlearn and uncovers the body's full dramatic potential as a blank page, which later can take on different dramatic states and characters.

Children (play, energy, imagination, state and innocence) - the innate play instinct that we all share is the driving force of theatre. Through this liberating work the actor becomes released from inhibitions and self-consciousness. Freedom and spontaneity are accepted as our natural state. We then start to channel this ability into more sophisticated play and games (dramatic and comic creation).

Mask Theatre (including mask making) - developing the expressive power of the performer with movement, stillness and the dramatic attitudes of the Mask. By using masks in training the ability of the physical actor becomes greatly increased.

Theatre Creation and Performance - Dynamics of a scene, rhythm and crescendo. Identifying the motors in the dramatic or comic situation

During your stay a typical day runs like this :
  • Breakfast: 8.30 am
  • First session: 9.30 – 11 a.m.
  • Second session: 11.30 – 1 pm
  • Lunch: 1.30pm
  • Third session: 3.30 – 5 pm
  • Last session: 5.30 – 7 pm
  • Dinner is served at 7.30pm
(Please note that these times are flexible).

The Approach
Throughout these acting courses we develop a relationship with each individual, taking them through their own personal journeys. Everyone has different needs. We 'read' those needs and give the tools to each person so that they can develop, from where they are, in their acting skills.
Our feedback is always honest and truthful but constructive. In this environment the actor feels supported, safe and not judged.
This approach gives the actor a chance to try new things without fear and even to get it wrong. Through encouragement, enjoyment of the work and the right techniques and discipline each individual is guided to a place of genuine creation.
The Location
The workshop is held in a place of outstanding natural beauty, right in the heart of the Catalan countryside, only one hour from Barcelona.

The workshops take place in a 16th century farmhouse, which holds accommodation for up to 20 people. The workshops attract people from all over the world, with the experience of a real melting pot of cultures.

“Creating the Actors Space was just an obvious step in our careers. We always dreamed of a place were we could share the techniques we knew, research and deepen our knowledge of theatre and film and create new work. A place were one could totally focus on this beautiful art, away from anything else. An actor’s retreat. An actor’s space.”
